As a twenty-something career gal, I find myself torn. Am I a cat person? Or am I a dog person? Unfortunately, the answer is not quite that simple…I am an all-animal loving person!
Even as a young child, with my stuffed animals ranging from giraffes to gorillas to bunnies, and of course, the epitome of any childhood…the Teddy Bear… I have always had a love for animals! On my fourth birthday, my parents told me I could choose my birthday gift – side note: dangerous option for any child. What they didn’t know, of course, is that I was going to choose the gift that keeps on giving: the love of a dog.
One of our neighbors at the time had a beautiful Yellow Labrador, Cakey, who had just given birth to the cutest, tiniest, fluffiest, yummiest litter of pups. So naturally, I bee-lined to their house and staked my claim in the form of a young female pup, who I named Emily Elizabeth, Emmy for short, as a tribute to my favorite childhood book series: Clifford The Big Red Dog.
Emmy was the most faithful and loving dog I’ve ever owned. She never cared that my brother and I would dress up as Cowboys and pretend she was our horse; and growing up in Florida, where the swimming pool is to us as the basement is to Ohio, she was the first to jump into the pool and swim around with us! I’ll forever cherish those memories of Emmy.
Thankfully, Red Roof gives me the opportunity to work the same type of people: animal lovers. And this June, we’re taking the Mobile Truck Tour on the road again and heading up north to Toronto attending WoofStock, North America’s Largest Festival for Dogs!
At WoofStock, Red Roof will be giving away the most adorable plush cats and plush dogs for those folks who take a tour through our NextGen® replicated build-out of the truck! Additionally, Red Roof has partnered with BestFriends.Org throughout the summer to raise awareness for their cause – finding safe homes for loving and needing animals. Be sure to check out their website and be sure to “track the truck” (and like us, too!) on the Red Roof Facebook Page!
See you in Canada, y’all!
